Overview


The Business Planning and Policy Specialist will be responsible for supporting the growth of Youth Villages to reach more children and families across the country. This includes, but may not be limited to the following tasks and activities: engaging in business development, implementing and tracking of strategic and tactical plans, and supporting government relations and public policy initiatives. This position may also help support special projects.

Responsibilities

Business Development Preparing for and leading or contributing to meetings and presentations with key external stakeholders (including funding agencies or potential fundersTechnical writing, including proposal writing, as well as composing letters and emails, developing PowerPoints, etc.Critical thinking related to analysis of growth and funding opportunitiesCreating budgets and analyzing financials to support business development decision-makingStrong collaborations with internal leadership, including other support departments (such as Strategy, Communications, Finance, etc.)Work closely with internal state program leadership on assessing barriers to growth and developing strategies to address those barriersResearch growth opportunities, cultivate relationships and introduce proposals and services to potential funders (in conjunction with state and department leadership)Communicates with program and other Youth Villages leaders, including CEO, about expansion opportunities and new startups Strategy Implementation Help carry out identified strategies and tacticsActively contribute to the planning process for assigned states (which occurs annually) and special projectsEngage internal leadership in the planning process in a collaborative way Government Relations & Public Policy In collaboration with the Business Planning and Policy leadership, assists state leadership with policy and legislative priorities and action stepsLead or support presentations, briefings, and informational meetings with legislatorsReview bills, laws, and policies that may impact YV’s operation

As a member of Business Planning and Policy Department, must be flexible with additional job duties, including but not limited to conference attendance, contract adherence processes, and other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

We are looking for additions to our team who will bring strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail and experience working with upper level leadership. We need Business Planning and Policy Specialists who are assertive self-starters with a strong sense of flexibility and creativity.

The successful candidate will have the following:

A Master’s degree is preferred A Bachelor's degree is required Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to engage audiences and function in an in-person or virtual environment Experience related to negotiating contracts with relevant public agency funders and/or knowledge of funding sources (i.e. Medicaid/managed care, child welfare, mental health) is preferred Experience in one of Youth Villages' programs is preferred
