The Director of Laboratory Services is responsible for all operations and business management for the Department of Pathology. This position is responsible for assuring quality laboratory services and the management of human and fiscal resources. The Director of Laboratory Services assures that current national standards of laboratory medicine are implemented in the Medical Center. The Director of Laboratory Services is responsible for implementing the Medical Center's policies and objectives. This position works in collaboration with other departments and services in promoting quality care, excellent service and fosters the Mission of Mercy Medical Center. This position requires a high level of leadership skills and abilities.

Requirements:


Must possess a high school diploma or GED. Bachelor Degree required. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology preferred. Master Degree is desirable. Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience, including supervisory/management experience required. Certification Requirement: American Society of Clinical Pathologists certification desirable. Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following: Microsoft Word Power Point Excel Microsoft Outlook Meditech (if applicable to position) Epic (if applicable to position) NetLearning Electronic Performance Appraisal System Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public. Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
